Podcasting Workshops for Students

We offer workshops and talks for students in schools, colleges or universities.

Learn To Podcast Workshop (2-3 hrs) - flexible to fit into a school day

This session is a mixture of information, demonstrations and practical tasks. 

Introduces students to the medium of podcasting covering the different genres and uses of podcasts.

Students are given information on how to get started with podcasting including an overview of basic and easy to access equipment, software.The workshop provides an introduction and demo of an online podcast creation and distribution platform.

Students will then have the opportunity to work in small teams to create their own podcasts based on a particular topic (this can be chosen by the school linking to curriculum or we have topics students can choose from) If there is sufficient time students can play parts of their podcast to the rest of the group.

The session concludes with additional hints, tips and tricks (including insights on how to grow a podcast audience) and time for Q&A. 

This session is suitable for class sizes up to 20 maximum.

Requirements: This session is best delivered in an IT room or alternatively if the school has access to laptops for students to share in a standard classroom space. Students will also require headsets with a microphone so that they are able to practice recording. 

As part of the workshop there will be some professional microphones provided for to borrow for use in the final recording task.

The school/college will need to check in advance that the podcast platform that will be demonstrated and used is not blocked by your IT systems and if necessary arrange for it to be accessible while the workshop is taking place.

Introduces students to the medium of podcasting covering the different genres and uses of podcasts. Students are given information on how to get started with podcasting including an overview of basic and easy to access equipment, software and provides a live demonstration of an online podcast creation and distribution platform.

The session concludes with additional hints, tips and tricks (including insights on how to grow a podcast audience) and time for Q&A.

This session is suitable for any class size (classes/assemblies)
